Meetings and Events
The Bruce County Genealogical Society (BCGS) gathers March through November to network with fellow members in the form of events that explore the history of Bruce County and to enable researchers, novice and experienced, young and old, to access information of interest to their own Family Trees.
Some of our events are held in the Theatre in the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre (BCM & CC). These events, presented by knowledgeable speakers, are always worth attending. Yearly we like to take you out and about for a Cemetery Walk & Talk in one of our many Bruce County Cemeteries. Every April we offer our Introduction the Genealogy courses held at the BCM & CC, that we can assure you will put you on the proper road to breaking down those Brick Walls that your Ancestors put before you.
Our Executive Meetings are held on the second Mondays in April and September at 1:30 p.m. in the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, in Southampton, unless otherwise called by the President.
Our Annual General Meeting is held in the form of a Pot Luck Lunch in November at the BCM & CC, beginning at noon, followed by an informative Guest Speaker and our meeting, at which time you will get to hear what it is that the Bruce County Genealogical Society has been up to for the past year and what it hopes to offer the next.
A Calendar of Events & Meeting is posted on our website, posters are hung in County Libraries and at the BCM & CC, for our events in the Museum Theatre and ads for upcoming events are placed in our local newspapers.
