November 2021 Webinar

These Poppies Really Rock
With Jan Briggs-McGowan and Deb Sturdevant

Poppy Rocks

2021 is the 100th Anniversary of the Poppy as a symbol of Remembrance in Canada, and Jan made it her personal project to paint a poppy rock to place on the grave of every veteran buried in the two main cemeteries in Walkerton.
Join us as she talks about using local newspaper clippings, on line
sources and reaching out to the community to find those who served
our county and our Allies. Jan also adds her techniques to paint
500 poppies on rocks, plus what happened next.
Joining her will be Deb Sturdevant, Archivist at Bruce County
Museum and Cultural Centre to talk about Bruce Remembers.

July 2021 Webinar

Bruce County Genealogical Society Invites YOU to a Webinar On Monday, July 12 at 7pm Eastern Daily Time

Our cemetery Walk and Talk will be virtual again this year.

We are fortunate to have Ron Schmuck speak to us about St Boniface Old Walled Cemetery. He was instrumental in fixing the headstones, straightening them etc. He’ll tell us about the Alsace Lorraine people who came to his area as well as to Bruce County.
I think you’ll find it very interesting and informative. He is full of ideas and suggestions. As well, he is related (which they only just found out) to Don Meyer one of our Directors.
Don Meyer and Anne Goeden, our German cemetery expert,  will help conclude our program.
