Ways We Can Help You Discover Your Family Story
Discover Your Bruce County Roots – The Bruce County Genealogical Society invites you to explore your family’s story with confidence and care.
If you would like the BCGS to do paid research for you, please fill in the Request for Information Form with as much detail as possible. Cost: $35 non-refundable (for up to two hours of research); paid by e-transfer (preferred), cheque, or money order. This includes research costs, photocopies, and postage. Additional research is available at $25 per hour.
For those who wish to experience the joy of discovery firsthand, we welcome you to visit our Audrey Webster Underwood Library. It is located in the Research Room of the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, Southampton. There, you’ll find a wealth of resources—from census and land records to cemetery transcriptions and local histories—all waiting to help you uncover the stories of Bruce County’s past.
For any of these options, click into the sub-menu’s of this page! Research Library and Archives, Request for Research, Request for Queries!
Please note that we will not provide research for Proof of Canadian Citizenship. This is a much more detail-oriented process that requires us, by law, under Bill C-3, to provide certificates, often at a cost that our very low fee structure does not support. Because we are a stand-alone genealogical society with a small group of volunteers, we are simply not able to undertake this kind of research.
