As a young child immersed in Scottish culture and tradition, Christine was aware of some “urban legends”. Although she had traveled to Scotland several times, it wasn’t until she traveled there as an adult that the richness of those stories were brought to life. Many, in fact, were not myths but reality. She will share these discoveries with us.
Join Jan Briggs-McGowan and a few other members in an informal chat about all things military. Ask a question, share a military discovery, talk about your military ancestor. No agenda, so don’t be shy!

The Bruce County Genealogical Society’s mandate is to keep the lives of our County Ancestors alive and to assist those of you, researching your own ancestors, to find all that there is to know about your family. The Archives and Reading Room, which is upstairs in the Bruce County Museum in Southampton and full of history, is a good place for you to begin. Any one of our members will be happy to tell you about what they have found of interest to their family trees in the Archives. Or just ask the staff what records are available for you to peruse.
The Bruce County Archives is part of the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, 33 Victoria Street, Southampton, Ontario, 519-797-2080, ext. 129, and is open during museum hours.
The Bruce County Genealogical Society’s research collection, the Audrey Webster Underwood Collection library, is also housed in the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre and open during museum hours.
