In celebration of Canada’s first British Home Child Day, join Allan Thompson, a journalism professor from Carleton University, as he recounts the history of the British home child movement through stories gathered
in personal interviews he conducted some years ago with “Barnardo Children” from Bruce County and other parts of Ontario. Allan, who was born and raised in Bruce County, is the descendant of a Barnardo child and over the years has researched and written about the child migration scheme that brought more than 100,000 children to Canada as indentured labourers.
